Anyone using native Texas plants in aquascaping?

Hey everyone! I live in a pet-friendly neighborhood in Austin, and I’ve been thinking about revamping my aquarium setup. Aquascaping has always fascinated me, and I’m curious if adding native Texas plants could give my tank a unique flair.

Since there are so many local species to choose from, I wonder if anyone here has tried using them in their aquariums. It sounds like a fantastic way to enhance the beauty of the tank while also supporting our local ecosystem. However, I’m a bit worried about their care needs and whether they would thrive in a home aquarium.

If you’ve experimented with native plants, what were your experiences? Any particular species you would recommend for beginners? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

I’ve used a few native Texas plants in my tank, like the Texas Horned Lizard Fern—it’s super hardy and looks great. Also, the Bluebell can add some nice color without much fuss. Just keep an eye on water quality since some can be sensitive to changes! It’s definitely a cool way to showcase local greenery.
