Best Cat Litter for Automatic Litter Boxes

Choosing the right litter for an automatic litter box can be tricky with so many options available. A friend recently faced issues with overly hard clumping litter that caused a mess in the mechanism. This raises the question of what types of litter work best without creating clogs.

For those with experience using automatic litter boxes, what brands or materials have you found to be effective? Are there any specific characteristics that make a litter more suitable? I’m particularly interested in how different litters affect cleanliness and odor control.

Additionally, do you have any maintenance tips for these boxes? Are there certain types of litter you would recommend avoiding? I’d love to hear your insights!

I’ve had good luck with the crystal litter in my automatic box. It doesn’t clump hard like clay, which helps with jams, and it controls odor really well. Just make sure to clean it regularly since the crystals can lose effectiveness if left too long. Also, steer clear of anything too dusty; that can mess with the sensors.
