Best Local Stores for Buying Goldfish in Austin?

There are quite a few options for purchasing goldfish here in Austin, but it can be tough to know where to go for healthy fish. I’ve heard mixed reviews about different pet stores and their fish quality. Some friends suggested checking out local fish shops, which might offer better selections, but I’m unsure which ones are trustworthy.

What have you all experienced when buying goldfish in the area? Are there particular stores you would recommend for both healthy fish and good customer service? Additionally, any tips on what to look for when selecting goldfish would be really appreciated!

I’ve had some luck at Aquatic Warehouse near downtown. Their selection seemed pretty solid, and the staff actually knew their stuff. Just make sure to watch for any fish that look sick or stressed - that’s usually a bad sign.

I’ve had decent luck at The Fish Gallery on Burnet. They seem to know their stuff and their tanks look clean. Just watch for active fish and clear eyes when you’re looking to buy. Good luck!
