Can Rabbits Safely Eat Grass?

I’m trying to figure out the best diet for my rabbit and considering adding something fresh and natural. My roommate suggested we introduce grass, but I’m unsure if it’s safe. Not all types of grass seem suitable, and I want to avoid any digestive problems.

Right now, we mainly feed our rabbit pellets and hay, but fresh grass could be a nice treat. Are there certain types of grass that are better for rabbits? How should we go about introducing it? Should we start with a small amount or can they handle a bit more right away?

Has anyone else done this with their rabbits? I’d love to hear your experiences or any advice you might have!

Tons of rabbit owners have had success with grass, but you definitely want to stick to safe varieties like timothy or clover. Start with a small handful to see how your bunny reacts; too much too quickly can lead to tummy issues. Just keep an eye on them and it should be a nice addition to their diet!

Yeah, rabbits usually can safely eat grass, but starting slow is key. I’ve added small amounts of fresh grass to my bunny’s diet before and she loved it! Just make sure to stick to common types like timothy or orchard grass and avoid clippings from treated lawns. Mixing it in with their usual food helps, too!
