Many people wonder if turtles can live peacefully in a fish tank alongside fish or other small pets. While the idea of mixing species can be exciting, it’s crucial to know if it’s a viable option.

Opinions seem to vary widely. Some aquarium enthusiasts believe that certain types of fish and turtles can peacefully coexist in a spacious, well-maintained tank. I’ve tried keeping a red-eared slider with some small tetras, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a disaster. The turtle went after the fish like it was snack time! If you do want to try it, maybe go for larger, more robust fish and definitely have hiding spaces for them. Just keep an eye on their interactions!

I’ve had mixed luck with that combo. My turtle definitely went after smaller fish, like guppies, but the larger ones managed to hold their own. Just make sure to have enough hiding spots for the fish and monitor them closely.
