Choosing the Right Filtration Systems for Small Aquariums

When setting up a small aquarium, picking the right filtration system can be quite the challenge. It seems like there are so many options out there—from hang-on-back filters to internal models. What has been your experience with different types? Which ones do you find are the most effective for smaller tanks, while also being easy to maintain?

I’m considering a canister filter for my 20-gallon tank, but I’m curious if it’s too much for that size. What filtration systems have you successfully used in small aquariums? Are there any brands or specific models you would recommend that don’t take up too much space? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

If you’re looking for something compact and effective, I’d also recommend checked the AquaClear models—they’re solid and adjustable for different tank sizes. Just be careful with the flow strength for your fish!
