Choosing Toys for Households with Multiple Pets

Selecting toys for a multi-pet home can be quite tricky. Each pet has its own preferences and play styles, which can make it difficult to find something that everyone enjoys. For example, I have a dog and two cats, and what entertains one often doesn’t appeal to the others.

I’ve experimented with a range of toys, from interactive puzzles to basic chew toys, but I’ve noticed some are often left ignored, while others can even spark scuffles. It would be great to hear how others tackle this challenge. Do you prioritize durability, safety, or toys that promote playtime together?

What are some of your favorite toys that keep all your pets engaged and happy? Any strategies for managing playtime across different species?

I’ve got a similar mix at home with dogs and cats, and I’ve found that laser pointers can keep both of them entertained for ages. The dogs love chasing it, and the cats will be all over it, too. Just gotta make sure to give the dogs something they can actually chew on afterward, or else they get jealous!

I’ve had luck with those wand toys that have feathers or strings—the dog likes to chase the cats when they’re in action, and the cats get their workout too. They seem to get everyone involved without too much drama. For chew toys, I stick to hard rubber stuff that lasts longer, so the dog isn’t hogging every toy!
