Favorite DIY Toys for Dogs and Cats in 2026

Finding the perfect toys for my dogs and cats can be quite the challenge. Lately, I’ve been exploring DIY options since they save money and allow me to tailor them to each pet’s unique personality. Recently, I made some simple tug toys and puzzle feeders, but I’m eager to hear about other creative projects that keep our furry friends entertained for longer.

With all the new materials and ideas out there, what are some of your favorite DIY toy creations? Do you have any tried-and-true patterns or tips for making durable toys that can handle rough play? I’d love to hear your experiences and any resources you recommend for inspiration.

I’ve had good luck with using old t-shirts to make tug ropes. Just braid them together and they hold up pretty well! Also, for puzzle feeders, try cutting holes in a plastic bottle and filling it with treats—my dogs go nuts for it!

I just made a bunch of sock toys for my dog—super easy and they love them! Just stuff them with some old t-shirts and tie off the ends. Also, I’ve found that using plastic bottles inside a fabric cover makes great puzzle toys and they’re pretty durable too!
