Fun enrichment activities for dogs and cats together

Managing a household with both dogs and cats can be a balancing act, especially when it comes to keeping everyone entertained. I’m always on the lookout for ways to enrich their lives without causing too much chaos. Recently, I’ve been trying to find activities that both my dogs and cats can enjoy together, but it’s not always easy to find options that fit their different play styles.

I’ve experimented with some interactive toys and puzzles, but I’ve noticed they don’t always engage both pets at the same time. I’m also thinking about setting up a small obstacle course in the backyard that caters to both of them. Has anyone else tried this or have other ideas for enrichment activities that can involve both dogs and cats? What strategies or activities have worked well for you in your multi-pet home?

I’ve done a DIY agility course with tunnels and small jumps, and my dog loves zooming through while the cat just watches. I also set up treat scavenger hunts where I hide snacks around the yard and let them both search. It gets the dog moving and keeps the cat curious without too much chaos!

Obstacle courses sound fun! I’ve had some luck with using a long DIY tunnel that my dog runs through while my cat just pokes her head in and out. Also, try letting them both chase after a laser pointer or a feather toy—it’s chaotic but they seem to enjoy it together! Just keep an eye out to make sure the dog doesn’t get too excited and scare the cat!
