How do you pick the best food for your parrot?

Choosing the right food for a parrot can be a real challenge, especially with so many choices available. It can feel overwhelming to navigate through brands claiming to be all-natural or promoting specific diets. For those of us who want our feathered companions to thrive, how do we cut through the marketing noise to make the best choice?

It’s essential to consider factors like your parrot’s species, age, and any health issues. Some parrots do well on seeds, while others require a more balanced diet of pellets, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Have any of you discovered certain brands that your parrots love? What do you prioritize when selecting parrot food? I’d love to hear about your experiences and insights!

Finding the right food can be tricky! I’ve noticed my African Grey thrives on a mix of pellets and fresh veggies, but when I tried a seed-heavy diet, he was way less active. It really seems to vary by species, so it might be good to do some trial and error with different brands to see what your parrot prefers.

I’ve had good luck with Harrisons pellets for my Amazon parrot. He turned his beak up at other brands, but once I switched, he really thrived. I always make sure to mix in fresh fruits and veggies daily too—keeps it interesting for him!
