How often should you feed your goldfish each day?

Feeding goldfish can be a bit confusing with all the different advice out there. Some sources recommend feeding them once a day, while others suggest two or three times daily. A friend of mine recently worried that their goldfish wasn’t getting enough food, and they were sticking to the once-a-day routine.

For those who have goldfish, what does your feeding schedule look like? Do you find a specific routine works best? I’ve noticed that my goldfish get pretty excited when I feed them multiple times, but I’m curious if that’s just their nature or if it can be a good practice.

Also, how do you manage their feeding habits while keeping the water quality in check? Any tips that have worked for you would be great!

I’ve always fed mine twice a day, and they seem to thrive on it. But you’re right, it’s a balance — I make sure not to overfeed and do regular water changes. Sometimes I even skip a meal if the water looks a bit off. Have you tried experimenting with smaller portions throughout the day?

I usually feed mine twice a day, and I’ve noticed they seem so much more active. Just make sure you’re not overfeeding; I give them only what they’ll eat in a couple of minutes. And to keep the water quality good, I always do a small water change every week after feeding!
