How to Choose the Best Diet for Your Parrot

Selecting the right diet for your parrot can be quite a challenge with so many products available. Recently, I’ve noticed my parrot becoming a bit picky with his food, which made me reconsider his diet. He seems to favor seeds over pellets, but I know that might not be the healthiest option.

I’ve done some research on the benefits of adding fresh fruits and vegetables to his meals, but I’m uncertain about how to incorporate them into his current routine. I’ve also come across various opinions on the safety of certain foods. For those who have experience with this, what factors do you consider when choosing a diet for your feathered friends? Do you have any favorite ingredients or tips that have worked well for you?

I’ve had the same issue with my parrot! I started mixing in a bit of chopped veggies with his seeds to get him used to them. He loves bell peppers and broccoli, and it’s been a fun way to get him to try new things. Just watch out for anything toxic, like avocado; it’s a bummer to find out the hard way!

I feel you on that picky eater problem! My parrot loves fresh veggies, but I usually chop them small and mix them in with his pellets to trick him into eating more balanced meals. Also, skip the avocado and chocolate since they’re a big no-go. Have you tried adding some herbs? Mine really likes basil!
