How to Choose the Right Food for Your Reptile

Finding the right food for a reptile can be tricky with all the choices out there. My roommates and I just adopted a bearded dragon, and I’ve been diving into research on the best diet for him. I know insects are a crucial part of his nutrition, but I’m uncertain about how to balance that with greens and any necessary supplements.

I’ve come across several brands that people recommend online, but it’s tough to tell which ones are genuinely the best. Some products seem overly processed or not specifically designed for reptiles. I really want to ensure we’re giving our new pet the best nutrition possible to keep him healthy.

What do you consider when picking out food for your reptiles? Any specific brands or food types that have worked well for your pets?

I’ve got a bearded dragon too, and I mix crickets with leafy greens like collard greens and dandelion leaves. I’ve had luck with the Repashy food for the dry stuff; my dragon seems to love it and it’s got good nutrients. Just be careful with the mealworms since they can be a bit fatty. It’s all about finding what your guy likes!

It’s awesome you adopted a bearded dragon! Just a heads-up, not all brands are created equal. I found that some of the cheaper ones have a lot of fillers. also, don’t forget to dust those insects with calcium powder; it makes a big difference!
