How to Choose the Right Tank for a New Betta Fish

Getting a new fish is always a thrill, but picking the right tank is really important for their well-being. I just adopted a little betta and found myself trying to figure out the best size and type of tank. With so many choices out there, I felt a bit overwhelmed. Should I go with a cozy 5-gallon tank that fits easily in my apartment, or is it better to invest in a larger 10-gallon tank for more swimming space?

Since bettas need room to explore and feel comfortable, I want to make sure my tank has enough space for them. I’ve also read that a good filtration system is key, but I’m unsure how to find the right balance with tank size. What do you all think? What factors do you consider when selecting a tank? Any specific brands or types that have worked well for your fish?

I went with a 10-gallon for my betta and it’s been great. They love the extra space to roam around. Just make sure to get a filter that doesn’t create too much current since bettas prefer calm water. As for brands, I’ve heard good things about Fluval and Aqueon.
