How to Keep Dogs Entertained Indoors on Rainy Days

Rainy days in Portland can make it tough to keep our dogs entertained at home. Dogs can easily become restless and bored, leading to undesired behaviors. It’s important to find activities that are engaging and safe for them.

We’ve had some success with interactive puzzle toys and scent games, but I’m eager to hear what others have tried. DIY obstacle courses and creative playtime ideas would be great to learn about too. What activities or toys have your dogs loved on days when they can’t go outside? Any favorite games that you’d recommend?

My dog loves playing hide and seek! I’ll hide somewhere in the house and call him, and he goes nuts trying to find me. It really tires him out and keeps him engaged, plus it’s so much fun for both of us. Have you tried that one?

You might want to try hide-and-seek! Just have your dog stay in one room while you hide somewhere else, then call them to find you. It’s a fun way to engage their minds and get them moving without needing a ton of space. Plus, they love the challenge!
