Is it safe to keep fish and turtles in the same tank?

I recently set up a new aquarium and I’m considering adding a turtle to it. Right now, I have a few fish, but I’ve heard that turtles can be more aggressive when it comes to food and territory. I’ve come across mixed opinions online about whether it’s a good idea to house them together.

Has anyone here successfully kept fish and turtles in the same tank? If so, what species did you pair together? I would love to hear your experiences and any advice you might have for keeping both pets healthy and happy in a shared environment.

Keeping fish and turtles together can be tricky. I tried it once with a turtle and small fish, and the turtle ended up eating a couple of them. If you really want both, maybe go for larger fish that can hold their own, like cichlids, but just keep a close eye on them!

I tried keeping a small turtle with some guppies once, but it didn’t go well. The turtle ended up snatching a couple of them! It seems like the risk of aggression is pretty high, so maybe consider a separate tank for the turtle.
