Is it safe to keep turtles in a fish tank with fish?

Housing turtles in a fish tank can be a bit tricky and raises several important questions. Different turtle species have varying needs, making it crucial to consider their compatibility with fish and the specific conditions they require. While some owners report success, others have encountered problems like aggression or stress among their aquatic pets.

Have any of you successfully kept turtles and fish together? What species did you mix, and how did they interact? I suspect that the size and setup of the tank play a significant role in this. For those who have gone through this experience, what tips do you have to help ensure a harmonious environment for both turtles and fish?

I’ve tried keeping a small red-eared slider with some guppies, and it didn’t really work out. The turtle kept chasing them around, which stressed the fish out. Definitely agree that tank size and setup matters a lot—separation areas or hiding spots can help a ton!

I’ve read that smaller fish can sometimes get stressed or even become snacks for turtles, so it’s a bit of a gamble. If you’re looking to mix species, maybe try smaller turtles with larger, more robust fish? Also, a bigger tank can help give everyone enough space to avoid conflicts.
