What are some fun enrichment activities for aquarium fish?

Aquarium fish can sometimes appear bored, especially in a standard setup. It’s interesting to consider ways to make their environment more stimulating. Many people have mentioned different strategies, and I’m eager to learn what has worked best for you.

From floating toys to rearranging plants and adding caves, I’ve dabbled in a few ideas. However, I keep thinking about trying mirrors or DIY projects like a mini obstacle course. Has anyone had success with these or any other creative methods? What enrichment activities have you found to be most effective? Let’s share our experiences!

I tried using live plants, and they really seemed to love exploring and hiding in them. Also, you could get some snails or shrimp as tank mates—keeps the fish curious and engaged! Giving them different textures and things to nibble can also spice up their routine. Have you thought about rotating ornaments to keep things fresh?

I’ve found that adding live plants really boosts their activity, especially when they can hide and explore. I’ve also tried using PVC pipes as tunnels—super simple to set up and the fish love darting in and out. Mirrors can stress some fish out, so maybe test it out for a bit first to see how they react!
