What are the best enrichment toys for tropical fish in 2026?

I’m on the hunt for the best enrichment toys for my tropical fish, and it’s been a bit of a challenge. I’ve tested out a few floating toys and some plant structures, but I want to hear what has worked for you in 2026. My goal is to create an environment where my fish are not just surviving but truly thriving.

I’ve noticed that some toys really encourage natural behaviors, but others seem to lose their charm quickly. What enrichment toys have you found effective? Are there specific brands or types that have kept your fish engaged?

Also, in your opinion, what makes an enrichment toy truly effective? I’d love to hear about your experiences!

I’ve had luck with those small coconut huts – my fish love hiding in and out of them, plus they seem to get really curious around them. Also, those floating plants are a hit; they create little safe zones and keep the fish active. Just gotta rotate the decor every few weeks to keep them interested!

I get what you mean about some toys losing their charm. My fish went nuts over a bubble-maker that creates hiding spots but then totally ignored it after a week. I found some colorful silk plants kept them entertained longer, plus they looked nice too. It’s all about mixing it up, I guess!
