What are the best toys for keeping your parrot happy?

Choosing the right toys for your parrot can be tricky, especially when you see how different birds react to them. Some of my roommates’ birds and foster parrots seem to ignore the store-bought options, while others get really excited about simple things like wooden blocks or shredded paper.

I enjoy crafting DIY toys, and it’s so rewarding to see my parrot interact with something I made. But I often wonder if I’m using safe materials or if my toys will keep their interest. What are your go-to toys or materials? Have you found any that really bring out the best reactions in your birds?

I’ve had good luck with natural vine balls and paper for my parrot. He loves shredding them and they keep him entertained for a while. Just make sure any soft materials are bird-safe, like untreated paper or cotton. DIY toys can be hit or miss, but it’s worth experimenting!

I’ve had the best luck with toy parts made from natural wood and small bells. My parrot goes nuts for anything with a sound, like those plastic rattles you find in baby toy sections. It’s super fun watching them figure out how to get to the treats inside too!
