What are your favorite DIY toys for small pets?

Keeping small pets entertained can be tricky, especially in a small living space. DIY toys are a great way to provide enrichment without breaking the bank, but with so many ideas out there, it can be hard to know where to start. What successful DIY projects have you tried for your little companions?

I’ve experimented with making cardboard tunnels and paper mâché chew toys, but I’m keen to hear about other creative ideas. Are there specific materials that are both safe and more enticing for pets? How do you come up with engaging activities that hold their interest for longer periods? I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!

I’ve had great luck with simple treat puzzles using toilet paper rolls. Just stuff them with hay or favorite treats and seal the ends. For creative activities, I sometimes make hanging toys from veggies—they love the challenge and it keeps them busy!

I’ve made these little hanging toys from strings and small bells, and my guinea pig goes nuts for them! Also, using toilet paper rolls stuffed with hay keeps them entertained for a while. Just be sure to supervise them since they love to chew and might swallow the wrong stuff.
