What enrichment activities do you pick for your dogs?

Choosing the right enrichment activities for our dogs can be tricky, especially with so many options available. Living in a busy neighborhood in Los Angeles with my roommates, we want to keep our pups engaged and happy. Lately, I’ve been considering more diverse activities that go beyond the typical walks and fetch games.

Some friends have recommended puzzle toys and scent work for mental stimulation, while others rave about agility courses. Since we’ve fostered several dogs in the past year, I’ve noticed each one has unique needs and preferences when it comes to play. What works for one dog doesn’t always suit another.

I’d love to hear about the enrichment activities your dogs enjoy! Do you have any favorite activities or tips for tailoring enrichment to different personalities? What do you think about when selecting these activities?

Scent work has been a game changer for my dog! We started with simple hide-and-seek games using treats, and he totally lights up. I think it’s cool how it really taps into their natural instincts. Plus, pairing it with some chill puzzle toys keeps him busy for a while without needing a ton of space.
