What factors do you consider when choosing a small pet?

Adding a small pet to your home can be both exciting and a bit daunting. With choices like hamsters, guinea pigs, and rabbits, it can be tough to determine which one is the best fit for your lifestyle. Space and daily routine are major considerations for many, but what other factors come into play?

Has anyone gone through the process of selecting a small pet? What key elements influenced your choice? I’d love to hear any tips you have on how to find a pet that matches your lifestyle while also considering the pet’s needs.

I recently got a guinea pig, and honestly, I didn’t realize how much their social needs would impact my choice. They need a buddy, which means extra space and time. Also, I didn’t think about how much they munch on fresh veggies daily—that adds up! Just something to keep in mind.

I just got a rabbit, and one big thing for me was how much time I could spend with it. They need a lot of attention and space to hop around. Also, I had to think about what to do with all the hay and litter—definitely not the easiest clean-up!
