Which shrimp can cohabitate with goldfish?

Setting up a community tank can be quite the challenge, particularly when deciding which shrimp might coexist with goldfish. Known for their energetic swimming and sometimes rough behavior, goldfish can complicate tank dynamics. A friend recently mentioned wanting to add shrimp to his goldfish tank, leaving me curious about which species would truly thrive in that environment.

It seems like Amano shrimp and ghost shrimp could be good choices, as they’re often resilient enough to withstand the activity levels of goldfish. I’m eager to hear from others who have tried this. Have any of you successfully kept shrimp with goldfish? Which species worked for you, and how did the interactions go?

Additionally, what tips do you have for creating a peaceful habitat for both goldfish and shrimp? Insights on tank setup and any necessary precautions would be much appreciated!

I tried keeping Amano shrimp with my goldfish a while back, and honestly, it was a mixed bag. The goldfish were super curious and sometimes scrambled after them, but the shrimp held their own pretty well. Just make sure to add plenty of hiding spots like plants or decorations so they can escape if needed.

I’ve had decent luck with ghost shrimp in my goldfish tank. They seem quick enough to avoid any nibbles from the fish, but I did add plenty of hiding spots like plants and rocks. Gotta be careful though, because goldfish can be pretty determined!
