Why do male cats have nipples?

It’s a common curiosity among cat owners—why do male cats have nipples? Many people assume that nipples are exclusive to females, but it turns out that male cats have them too. They’re a normal part of feline anatomy, even though they don’t serve a specific purpose.

While having nipples isn’t a cause for concern, it’s always good to be vigilant about your cat’s health. Are there any particular symptoms or signs that should raise a red flag regarding their nipples? Have any of you had discussions with your vets about this?

What experiences have you had? Are there health-related issues we should be aware of when it comes to male cats and their nipples?

I’ve never thought too much about male cat nipples, but it’s cool to know they’re normal! I did have a vet mention that any swelling or discharge from them could be a sign of something to check out. Have you noticed anything unusual with your cat?

A vet once told me that while male cat nipples are normal, any swelling or discharge could be a sign of hormonal issues. It’s definitely worth a chat with your vet if you notice anything unusual. Just like with female cats, their health can be linked to those little features!
