Why is my goldfish staying at the bottom of the tank?

Noticing my goldfish resting at the bottom of the tank has raised some concerns. He’s usually quite active, so this change in behavior seems unusual. I’ve already checked the water parameters, and they’re all within the normal range for temperature, pH, and ammonia levels.

Could this behavior indicate stress or an underlying illness? I’ve heard that goldfish sometimes hide or rest at the bottom when they’re not feeling well. Has anyone else experienced something similar with their fish? What steps did you take to help them? Any suggestions to encourage my goldfish to swim more would be greatly appreciated!

I had a goldfish that did the same thing, and it turned out he was just a bit constipated. I started feeding him blanched peas, and it really helped get him moving again. You might want to give that a try!
